A modern makeover for a mid-century home

The clean lines and classic style of Cedral facades gave this 1950s Surrey property an endearing New England makeover – a look that really wowed owners Emma and Matt’s 21,000 followers on Instagram.

“I get asked a lot about the cladding we used when I share any exterior shots of the house,” says Emma. The couple were also impressed with the product’s longevity. While traditional wooden boards can need a lot of maintenance, Cedral fibre cement cladding is manufactured to withstand nature’s harshest conditions and has a minimum life expectancy of 50 years.

Emma says: “I think if you want that New England look, this is a really great product to use. There’s a variety of colour choices, it’s easy to fit and lasts for a long time”.

From 200-year-old barn to contemporary rural lodge

Once a dilapidated barn in the Welsh countryside, a contemporary makeover using Cedral cladding gave this rural shooting lodge stylish New England appeal.

In a serious state of disrepair, the historic building was a challenging renovation project with its uneven walls, floors and ceiling.

Cedral Lap in Platinum Grey C05 was chosen for its low maintenance properties and traditional aesthetic, blending beautifully with the landscape Mark Aveyard, Managing Director of Neath Dry Lining who led the transformation, said:

“Working on such a drastic renovation project was a fantastic chance to give a real contemporary feel to such a traditional property. We specified Cedral Lap fibre cement boards due to their significant durability, as we wanted to use materials that would protect such an old building whilst being visually sensitive to the landscape”.

Rebuilding in a flood plain with strict planning regulations

Cedral Lap helped a 20-year-old bungalow meet its rebuild requirements; the construction had to offer up to 100 years of flood resistance due to its riverside location in a flood zone.

The remodelled two-storey holiday retreat in the Lake District was inspired by New England design, using shiplap cladding in White C01 to get the look. It wasn’t just about looks of course, Cedral cladding was chosen for its resilience against the external elements.

It doesn’t rot, rust, warp or crack and is fire, insect, bacteria and algae resistant. The clean lines and neutral colours of this beautiful countryside home sit perfectly in the surrounding natural landscape.
