A 1930’s semi with a difference
“I saw a few black houses and that was it, I just needed to have a black house, I couldn't get over the obsession,” says stylist and Instagram influencer Jade Doutch, who used Cedral Click in dramatic black to create her dream home.
The cladding helped to hide the unsightly rendered walls of her 1930’s semi-detached house, that looked, she said, like they’d been Artexed. Jade also loved Cedral because of the grain, adding texture to spice up the finish and giving the look of real wood, without the related maintenance. Cedral’s fibre cement facades are hardwearing and long-lasting with a minimum life expectancy of 50 years.
To offset the black cladding, Jade chose a composite wood trim for the porch to soften the look and add interest. She says: “I would 100% recommend Cedral. The house has been finished for several months now and people are still coming up to me to tell me it looks amazing. Next, I’m planning a building project for the back garden, and I would definitely use Cedral products for this also”.
Reinventing a 100-year old farmhouse in style
When Amy Taylor and her family first saw the dilapidated 100-year-old bungalow on the market, they almost didn’t buy it – it had turned green and was harbouring a multitude of cracks inside and out, with wet and mouldy walls. But after researching the cladding market, Amy was convinced she could give the property a new lease of life with the help of Cedral.
“The house sits in over 16 acres of wooded land and paddocks, so the black cladding option jumped out at me as a great option because I felt that the combination of a new brick plinth and the cladding would give it a barn-effect feel – in keeping with its surroundings, but also significantly improving the look and quality of the property,” says Amy.
She was so impressed with Cedral’s offering that she chose the stylish black boards for both the main house and an annex, laying them vertically in one section to create an eye-catching feature wall. “It is more than I ever could have dreamed of,” says Amy. “Cedral has helped us to transform the look of the property, allowing us to turn something so unappealing and run down into a beautiful home.”
